Foundation 92

Foundation 92 is a registered charity which works alongside and in partnership with Salford City Football Club, to reach out and support the whole community of Salford and wider Greater Manchester neighborhoods to both realise and achieve their potential.

Formed in November 2018, by the iconic Class of 92, Foundation 92 has developed into one of Salford and Greater Manchester’s most innovative, driven and diverse charities associated with a professional football club.

Working in line with Salford City FC’s operating ethos ‘The Welfare of the People is the Highest Law’, since 2018, Foundation 92 has developed a number of specialist delivery strands which enables Foundation 92 to support thousands of individuals each year lead healthy, progressive, connected and empowered lifestyles.

Foundation 92s core operating strands are placed into the following themes:

  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Inclusion
  • Participation
  • Education and employability
  • Extended services

Examples of programmes delivered within the above themed operating strands are as follows;

Health and Wellbeing

Get on Board; Family lifestyle change programme: Supported by The Bupa Foundation, Foundation 92s specialist health and wellbeing team deliver throughout Greater Manchester, a specialist family healthy lifestyle and behaviour change programme. Working with families on a one to one basis, families are provided with the opportunity to work closely with a mentor in order to enable them to develop the confidence, skillset, knowledge and ability to become more active, take steps to lead a healthier lifestyle and empower others within the community to take tangible steps to leading a healthier more positive lifestyle.

Inclusion

Directly supporting adults living with disabilities and/or additional needs, Foundation 92s Positive Pathways integration programme provides individuals with the bespoke wrap around care, advice, guidance and support required to enable them to lead a healthy and positive lifestyle. Provided through the support of a personalised mentor, each individual is supported to develop a range of life skills which enables them to lead a healthy, sustained and positive lifestyle. Examples of topics covered by the programme include, but are not limited to; financial inclusion, creation of healthy lifestyles, budgeting, housing, management of conditions, enterprise, employability, creation of positive relationships and accessing wider community services.

Participation

Delivered throughout Greater Manchester, Foundation 92 is proud to deliver a specialist three-tiered youth engagement offer which includes; detached youth work, sports based place based youth work provision and intense mentoring for young people most at risk of not realising and achieving their potential. Foundation 92s youth work provision includes the delivery of over 50 hours per week free to access youth work provision, situated across Greater Manchester. For young people identified as being at greatest risk of becoming marginalised from society, Foundation 92s youth workers provide targeted young people with the opportunity to participate in a range of bespoke mentoring provision reducing the likelihood of individuals engaging in high-level risk-taking behaviour, becoming homeless and not achieving their potential.

Education and employability

Working collaboratively with a range of local employment partners, Foundation 92 is proud to deliver a range of one-to-one mentoring programmes which support those furthest marginalised from society, develop the skills required to sustainably transition into employment. Each individual who engages in Foundation 92s bespoke mentoring programmes is provided with a person centred progression opportunity, allowing them to take meaningful and sustained steps towards to reaching of their potential. Examples of the type of support provided through Foundation 92s education and employability programmes include but is not limited to;

  • Confidence building
  • CV writing/interview skills
  • Communication skills
  • Expectations of employment, from both an employer and employee perspective
  • Building and development of positive working relationships
  • Transition and journey mapping support
  • Enabling individuals to confidently take steps which enable them to take the next step in their careers
