18 Pro League clubs rewarded with the Pro League + label

On 3 December 2018, 18 Pro League clubs received the Pro League + label. This label has been awarded to the Pro League clubs that have set up a community-oriented programme last year, based on a strategic plan focused on the local context, sustainable partnerships and qualitative activities.

“For the Pro League, the main objective of our social policy is to have a strong and credible social strategy among the clubs. We want clubs to play a social role in the local community, in addition to their sport activities. Clubs must use their resources and their place in society for community outreach projects and create sustainable partnerships. In order to assume this role, they are supported by the Pro League and a number of partner organisations. They are supported in the development of their strategic plan and in the evaluation of their social policy. Clubs that engage in local and credible social policy are therefore rewarded with this label, ” said Stijn Van Bever, CSR Pro League manager.

A jury evaluated the strategic plans, as well as simplified work reports and analysed the activities of the clubs. As a result of this assessment, 18 of the 24 clubs in the Pro League will receive the Pro League + 2018 label, which includes three additional clubs compared to last year which shows that the quality of the features of the professional football community is getting better throughout the years.

In addition to the label, clubs also have the opportunity to obtain financial support. The Pro League provides at least 75,000 euros in funding each year for clubs to support their community.
