1. FSV Mainz 05 has joined the network as the 38th member

EFDN is glad to announce the membership of 1. FSV Mainz 05, the 38th member of the European Football for Development Network.

1. FSV Mainz

1. FSV Mainz 05 is a professional German football club that was founded in 1905 and has its home ground at the OPEL ARENA. Since the season 2009/2010, the club is playing in the top tier of the German football league.

Next to having the purpose and core competence of playing professional football, FSV Mainz 05 is known for its social activities within the framework of its CSR strategy. Mainz 05 is convinced that social engagement is essential to add value to the society and to fulfil its own expectations regarding the social, environmental and societal responsibility. Since Mainz 05 is the first climate-neutral club of the German Bundesliga, it can be recognised that the club very early raised awareness for issues like the utilisation of sustainable resources and the reduction of CO2 emissions.

In the past years, the club founded various social programmes and collaborated with many different regional partners and institutions to realise the aims of its before mentioned social, environmental and societal responsibility strategy.

Within the different social programmes, the club provides activities for target groups regardless their age, confession, gender or social status. Among others, the programmes address topics as environmental protection, the prevention of discrimination, social commitment, education, physical activity and health care. All programmes are being delivered in collaboration with experts to ensure effectiveness.
