Ajax hosts social exchange with Feyenoord and PSV

Our member clubs Ajax, Feyenoord and PSV have set up an exchange program for their social projects this season. Sixty children from Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Eindhoven in turn take a look at each other’s city and club. This time it was Ajax’s turn at the Johan Cruijff ArenA.

Ajax gave 24 Amsterdam, 24 Rotterdam and 24 Eindhoven primary school children lessons on healthy food, dealing with money and (social) media literacy. The 11 norms and values of an Ajax player served as a guideline.

The objective of this exchange is that children, regardless of the club they love, treat each other with respect. Manager of the Ajax Foundation Jeannette Jongejans said, “We want to teach the children at a young age that you can support a club, but that you can treat each other in a friendly manner. You respect each other.”

She added, “by having the children do a football clinic, you can see that sport is becoming more brotherly. Then it doesn’t matter if you are for Ajax, PSV or Feyenoord. We want to show with this exchange that rival clubs can also do things that are important for society. This youth is an example for others. ”

Getting to know better Fair Play was emphasized on this afternoon and the children of Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord were mixed together at the start and end of the day. They got to know each other better and did everything together during the day. The core values of respect, discipline, cooperation and enjoyment were very important in this regard.

Through the clinics that the social projects of the football clubs offer, the young people involved get the opportunity to develop themselves, they become aware of the importance of social participation and learn skills to treat each other respectfully within and outside the field and involve this in the Fair Play at PSV, Ajax & Feyenoord.

The day ended with a press conference in which former football players Simon Tahamata, Heini Otto, André Ooijer and Regi Blinker joined in to answer the children’s questions.
