Athletic Club organise 1st edition of Fútbol Pasillo

Last Monday morning, the Athletic Club Foundation organised the first edition of ‘Fútbol Pasillo’ (‘Football Hall’).

In collaboration with the Copylot agency, the Athletic Club Foundation launched this initiative to help with the recovery and rehabilitation of children hospitalised at the Pediatría del Hospital de Cruces.

The children were able to disconnect for the morning and enjoy football in the center’s own hall where they played several games along side Athletic Club players such as Ainhoa Tirapu, Oihane Hernandez, Oscar de Marcos, Iñigo Córdoba, Unai López, Carlos Gurpegui and Andoni Lakabeg. Athletic Club board member Iker Goñi also went along to support the activity.

‘This morning is special. It makes me happy to come here and be able to help these kids who are going through bad times, and see them smiling while they play with us.’ said midfielder Unai López.

As you can see in the video below the kids, players and hospital staff all enjoyed this first session. Of course the results of the games never mattered because in Fútbol Pasillo everyone wins. Legendary former Athletic Club defender Carlos Gurpegui said: ‘It is a pleasure to come here, play with the kids, and give them hope. We feel like we’ve gone back to our childhood.’
