Athletic Club’s Thinking Football Film Festival

At the 12th EFDN #Morethanfootball Conference in London 2 weeks ago, Jon Vazquez-Eguzkisa & Galder Reguera of the Fundazioa Athletic Club gave a presentation on their unique Cultural Project which is a cultural program in the city of Bilbao that includes a film festival, a literature festival and a poet duel. The project is a really interesting way of thinking about how football connects with society and it aims to involve all the stakeholders of the club, from players all the way through to the fans. A host of different activities led by the Foundation use football and/or Athletic Club’s social, historical and cultural dimension as tools to help improve the quality of life of their target audiences in their local communities.

One of the activities that they run as part of the project is the Thinking Football Film Festival which took place this year between the 18th and 22nd March. After an intense week of cinema, in which the international Thinking Football festival screened 9 interesting films on several different themes, all of them with social relevance, a summary video from the event has been created which gives a great insight into the project.
