BFCitC feature in ‘Our Voice Our Time’ film

Burnley FC in the Community are proud to feature in a new film, ‘Our Voice, Our Time’, which focuses on young people’s perceptions and experiences of living in Colne.

The film, commissioned by Pendle Youth Forum and created by In-Situ, was developed due to reports of anti-social behaviour in Colne. Several local organisations joined forces to tackle the lack of provision left by austerity cuts and the impact this has had on communities.

BFCitC and the Youth Services team were one of these organisations, alongside Children and Family Wellbeing Youth Services, Colne Youth Action Group, Lancashire Country Council, Positive Action in the Community as well as the police and local councillors.

The film presents the voices and experiences of young people, providing an insight into their experience of living in Colne and Pendle, why they may get into trouble, and what they would like to see in the area to keep them off the streets and out of trouble.

The film shows a shared ownership of challenges and a commitment to working together to improve the situation. They will do this through increasing resource for spaces, creating opportunities and sessions and to generate better care and provision within the town.

Lee Adams, Burnley FC in the Community Youth Services Manager, said: “It was great to be involved in the Our Voice Our Time film.

“The film gave young people the chance to let their voices be heard and to create positive relationships with organisations in their community. This is something that is important to us as we develop our Youth Services Offer and aim to have a positive impact on more youngsters.

“We hope this film is a catalyst for change and we’ve seen some fantastic progress already as a result of this.”
