BRCT Inform Pupils About Eco-Friendliness and Sustainability Through a Sustainable Conference

Blackburn Rovers Community Trust are pleased to announce they will be once again welcoming pupils to the North West Eco Schools Sustainability Conference on Tuesday 27th June 2023, taking place in Ewood Park’s Darwen End.

Approaching its sixth year, the event, organised by the Lancashire Schools Sustainability Programme, will return to the home of Blackburn Rovers Football Club, as part of our longstanding partnership. Lancashire Schools Sustainability Programme provides support to the Schools Sustainability Programme. The forum allows pupils and their teachers to learn new skills and develop knowledge of how to live in an eco-friendly environment, both now and for future generations and promotes education for sustainable development (ESD) within schools in Lancashire.

The annual conferences for both primary and secondary school pupils create an opportunity for environmental education learning outside the classroom, and BRCT are proud to support such an important event. Over 5,000 students in more than 200 schools throughout the North West have engaged with Sustainability Conferences NW, and Blackburn Rovers Community Trust has hosted the conference since 2017. With plenty of exciting activities, fun and games and guest speakers, the conference promises to be a fantastic experience for all involved. The event coincides with a pledge made by clubs in the three EFL divisions to become greener.

In October 2021, the EFL launched ‘EFL Green Clubs’ as the league teamed up with GreenCode, which will assess each club’s environmental rating and offer guidance as well as advice to help its member clubs implement positive changes in their communities. The clubs that are participating in the scheme will receive an independent evaluation of their environmental activities through a GreenCode Mark, which will be supported by a GreenCode Improvement Plan. And everyone at BRCT is proud to be hosting the conference again, which has become a regular fixture in the charity’s calendar.

“We are proud to be welcoming back the Northwest Eco Schools Sustainability Conference to Ewood Park again in 2023! The event promises to be bigger and better, with more people now taking greater awareness of the environment we live in and what we can do to help protect it.”
