Charities and organisations benefit from AFCCT Main Stand box

Aberdeen FC Community Trust is delighted to have a corporate box in the Main Stand for the 2017/18 season for local organisations, charities and community groups to watch football matches from.

Over the last two seasons 27 groups and organisations have enjoyed the opportunity to experience watching the game in a safe environment with hospitality. Watching football from the box has broken down barriers that have prevented some supporters from attending the games and has provided a safe environment and experiences for individuals, families and groups that they can treasure.

By supporting the local community with access to the Main Stand box, AFCCT have managed to increase the participation of under represented groups and have been able to reward individuals who are in need of support themselves. The box has also provided social interaction for like-minded individuals and groups. Some organisations and charities that have benefited from the box this season are SensationALL, CLAN, National Autistic Society, The Youth Outreach Bus Trust, Appaws for Autism, ADA, Child Brain Injury Trust and Dementia Friendly Communities.

At a recent fixture, CLAN took advantage of the box, “The families had a ball from the second they set foot in the box and the hospitality team couldn’t do enough for us. None of the children had ever been to Pittodrie before let alone had the experience of watching their local team play live.

“They were also AFC fans which made the experience even better and all arrived in tops, scarves etc. I’m not sure if we were the lucky charms on the day but we couldn’t have asked for a better score. I loved watching the families, watch the game, that was the highlight for me. Many priceless memories were made that day for the families and I really do thank you for inviting us to be part of this wonderful experience.”

Another supporter who used the box for a match added, “We felt like a proper family today, there is not much we can do together as autism can come with so many barriers that it can make family life difficult. It was fantastic for everyone to be part the activity and enjoy it in a relaxed environment. It was a great treat to our other three children who are amazing and never complain, I feel for them as they cope so well and this was the perfect way to reward them too. My hubby and I were emotional today, it’s been the first time in years we have spent such an enjoyable Saturday.”
