Chelsea Foundation coaches visit local Thai school

Chelsea Foundation coaches from their International Development Centre spent time at Panjasap School in Bangkok earlier this month as part of their commitment to the local community in Thailand.

Established three years ago the International Development Centre Bangkok, which is based at NIST International School, runs a full-time comprehensive grassroots programme and delivers sessions for more than 900 players per week with five of the Chelsea Foundation coaches living in Thailand.

A key feature of Chelsea Foundation‘s work in the country is to support the local community and with this in mind 32 children took part in the session where their coaches covered a skills lesson and allowed the players to demonstrate those skills in a game situation before giving each child a ‘Champions’ flag.

Working Across Bangkok

This is just one of the many schools the Chelsea Foundation coaches work in each week across Bangkok and to date more than 1700 players have participated in free football activities delivered by Chelsea since the start of the programme in Thailand.

International lead coach James Gardner said: ‘Community work is a vital part of the work we do out here in Thailand and fully supports the legacy that we as a football club are trying to instil – ‘Here to Play, Here to Stay’.

‘This is one of the most rewarding parts of the job that allows us to work with players that would never normally get an opportunity to play within our programme as well as giving something back to the local Thai community.’
