Chelsea to support Rainbow Laces campaign

As part of their ongoing commitment to equality and diversity, Chelsea was supporting Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces campaign when they visited Anfield last weekend.
The Rainbow Laces campaign, which runs from November 24 to December 3, will see national teams, leading clubs, top athletes, fans and grassroots players from across sport show their support for the LGBT community.

The captains of both sides at the game were wearing special rainbow-themed armbands to show their backing for the campaign and players at all levels were encouraged to wear rainbow-coloured laces on their boots.

Premier League clubs up and down the country are supporting the campaign and at the game there were Premier League bespoke rainbow-branded ball plinths, pitch flags, and timing boards, LED boards and a rainbow flag were carried onto the pitch prior to kick off.
Chelsea is proud to be an inclusive club which celebrates the diversity of our football community, including our lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGB&T) supporters, staff and players.
However, they know that discrimination can affect anyone. That’s why, through the Building Bridges initiative, Chelsea celebrates equality and diversity throughout the club and the wider community, to ensure that everyone feels valued and can be proud to be associated with the club.

Anyone who witnesses or experiences homophobic, biphobic or transphobic behaviour, or any other form of discrimination, at a match should report it to a steward or via Kick It Out’s reporting app, which is free to download on any smartphone.
