Club Brugge Foundation invites 150 underprivileged people for festive meal

Last Wednesday afternoon, January 3, Club Brugge Foundation organised a festive meal for 150 people living in deprivation. The meal was prepared this year by the Homeless Team of Club Brugge together with star chefs Filip Claeys (De Jonkman) and Dominique Persoone (The Chocolate Line).

HOMELESS TEAM CLUB BRUGGE FOUNDATION AS HOSTS
The Homeless Team of Club Brugge Foundation is a separate football team for social issues. Together with the Bruges organisations Buurtsport, ‘t SAS,’ t SALON and OCMW Bruges they receive weekly football training at Club Brugge, accompanied by voluntary football coaches. In addition, it regularly organises extra-sporting activities for the target group. The goal of this football team is to offer the participants a structure, to get them out of their negative spiral and to help them move forward in life.

As part of a large-scale Christmas campaign organised by the Homeless Team, the large banquet was organised to jointly celebrate the new year in the lodge building of the Jan Breydel Stadium. It was an initiative that was clearly appreciated by those present.

“For us this period is not always easy, other families can eat extensively at Christmas, but for us this is not financially feasible, so we are also very happy that we can enjoy together with everyone this delicious meal at Club Brugge” according to the 45-year-old Vanessa from Bruges.

Two weeks ago the festive menu was practised during a cooking workshop in the showroom of Grando Keukens. On January 3, the two Bruges top chefs Filip Claeys and Dominique Persoone, both also fans of Club Brugge, oversaw the players of the Homeless Team to make sure everything went smoothly.

On the party menu the starter was a tomato soup with meatballs and a paprika cream sauce, the main course was chicory with ham, cheese sauce and pommes duchesse and for dessert the meal was closed with crêpes suzette and a praline with the emblem of Club.

Club Brugge gives great thanks to Metro and Brugse Pancakes, as all ingredients for this festive meal were donated for free by wholesaler METRO and Brugse Pancakes / bvba GEAL, who showed their love for this promotion.
