CLUB BRUGGE FOUNDATION WINS PRO LEAGUE FOOTBALL & COMMUNITY AWARD

Club Brugge can call itself the best Football & Community organisation of the Jupiler Pro League for a year. The club received the award from a jury of independent experts for its social club activities and the efforts of the Club Brugge Foundation during the past season.

For Club Brugge Foundation, this ‘Football & Community Award’ is already the 4th Pro League award in 7 editions, after previous awards in 2015, 2016, and 2018. Last season Club Brugge Foundation also won with the project ‘De Beer en zijn Sjaal’. EFDN members chose Club Brugge Foundation as the winner of EFDN’s ‘More than Football Award 2020’.

Pro League congratulates the Club for its social commitment:

“The past season was not only a sporting challenge for many clubs. Through digital alternatives, online sessions and meetings in bubbles, Club Brugge Foundation continued to focus on local projects with a focus on youth, synergy, inclusion and participation. Projects such as our EFDN initiatives “Show Racism the Red Card Europe”, “Scoring for Health” and the Foundation’s flagships “de Voetbalkraks”, “De Beer en his Scarf” and “Club Brugge Bootcamp” are success stories of our member.

At club level, the social impact on supporters, enthusiasts and players is particularly tangible. In a difficult year, Club Brugge showed its social commitment through the Club Brugge Foundation. The jury congratulates the club and the Foundation for their efforts over the past season, ”said Jan Cas, Football & Community manager of the Pro League.

Bluvn Goan to help people move forward

Head of Foundation Peter Gheysen, who received the trophy on behalf of Club Brugge Foundation, is delighted: “The corona measures led to many challenges for us last year. But through numerous digital alternatives, activities in smaller bubbles, and creative campaigns, we have continued to promote our No Heart / No Glory message. Despite the corona restrictions, we are “Bluvn Goan” and we have continued to reach our target groups and disadvantaged groups with various Foundation projects. Especially when society can use all the support, we have continued to use our strength as a football club to help people progress.

“Our Foundation activities will be celebrating the 15th anniversary this season. In all those years, as “Club Brugge Foundation”, we have been able to continue to grow under the wings of the entire football club into a performing organisation thanks to the unconditional support and drive of the entire club. As it is in the Club DNA, we are daily stimulated to do even better and to make the impact of our social projects even greater. I would therefore like to thank everyone who works with us on this every day. ”

Social commitment supported by the entire Club family

Club chairman Bart Verhaeghe is also very proud of this award: “With Club Brugge we want to be a pioneer in Belgian football, both on and off the field. Every year we ensure that our Foundation receives the necessary resources to continue its operations structurally, even in an economically challenging year. With the power of football we make difficult topics negotiable, we offer vulnerable people extra opportunities or we try to unburden them for a while. This social commitment is ingrained in the Club’s DNA, but we strengthen it year after year thanks to the efforts of the entire Club family. I would therefore like to thank all those involved, employees, volunteers, project partners, Club fans and participants, for making a difference in the lives of many people together with us. ”
