Come On, Let’s Play!: tournament of FC Shahktar Donetsk in Kurakhove

On October 21, Kurakhove played host to a tournament with the support of DTEK and town authorities, as part of the Come On, Let’s Play! project.

Around 60 kids took part in the competitions. They divided the kids into two age categories: up to 7 and up to 9 years old.

Football for all

Following all-play-all meetings, the strongest teams met in the finals. In the younger group, Red Dragons appeared luckier than Donbas in the penalty shootout, with Ilya Poyasov, who preserved shutout, being fairly voted as the best goalkeeper.

Interestingly, the top player award was handed to a girl – the Donbas side’s captain Lyubov Kaschei. In total, 5 young female footballers took part in the matches in Kurakhove.

– I’ve been going in for football for a year, I like everything very much, – Lyubov Kaschey shares her impressions. – Good competitions. We took the second spot, I got the top player award … I’m happy! Many thanks to Shakhtar for such tournaments.

Awards from the club and a contest for parents

In the age category of up to 9 years old, the Laurus side claimed a victory, along with the winner of the best goalkeeper award David Kocharov. In the finals, the kids defeated Molniya. Daniil Proskurin secured the top field player award.

Traditionally, the children received medals and awards from FC Shakhtar, while for parents, a special contest was held.

This autumn, Come On, Let’s Play! tournaments had been already held in Donetsk, Kramatorsk, Severodonetsk, Dobropillya and Kurakhove. In November, the similar competitions will also take place in Lviv.
