EASTER KINSHIP CARE FAMILY TRIP SPONSORED BY HEARTS FANZINE

Rounding off our 2018 ‘More Than Football’ Action Weeks, families involved in Big Hearts’ Kinship Care programme will enjoy a family trip at Almond Valley on Tuesday 10th of April, thanks to a donation from the Hearts Fanzine ‘Unknown Pleasures’!

Tomorrow, over 30 Kinship young people and their carers will spend the whole day at Almond Valley, the Farm and Discovery Centre located in Livingston, where they’ll get the chance to enjoy the outdoor attractions and meet the animals along the wooded riverside. For the Kinship Care families who attend Big Hearts’ After School Club, the trip is a fantastic opportunity to create new family memories together whilst have some fun during the Easter holidays!

To make this happen, Big Hearts is delighted to have partnered once again with ‘Unknown Pleasures’ – a news magazine run by Hearts supporters. Big Hearts and the Hearts Fanzine first teamed up last Christmas as part of the Edinburgh Cheer campaign. This partnership will continue this week with a £200 sponsorship towards our Kinship Care programme. This generous donation will help provide transport, snacks and activities for the Kinship Care Families at Almond Valley.

Kinship Care was chosen by the Board as Big Hearts main area of initial focus under family focused strategy. Big Hearts’ Kinship Care programme aims to address a real area of need within our community, with kinship care arrangements on the rise across Scotland. Since the start, the programme continues to grow offering support to more families through a variety of different ways including the Annual Family Day, Match Tickets for families, Fostering Compassion workshops, Emergency Essentials Fund and free places at Holiday Football courses.
