EFDN nominated for the Football Heroes Award

EFDN is proud to be one of the nominees for the Football Heroes Awards. The jury nominated our Pan-European Programme ‘Active Fans / Healthy Football League’ in the category ‘Social Responsibility Activities’.

In total, there are 11 categories. Besides EFDN also the Football Foundation for Africa and the USA-based organisation ‘We can kick it’ are nominated for their social projects. The jury consists of former professional players. Host and initiator of the award ceremony on 12 September in Moscow is the International Football Development Association (IFDA).

It is an international football association formed by former football players and sport managers with an objective to study projects from the perspective of requalification, assistance and guaranties of a new professional life to its members after their football carrier is ended. IFDA’s aim is to strengthen the visibility of ex-football players providing them with new professional opportunities that go beyond the sports career and to use the expertise they have acquired during their professional career for the benefit of development of football and growth of its values around the world.

Physical activity and a healthy lifestyle

The Active Fans programme aims to develop a new European standard and methodology that uses football as a tool to reach men and women from 35 years and older who would like to get physically active again, make lifestyle changes and improve their diets. The Healthy Football League will be an online competition that gives the possibility to compete online with fans from other clubs to become the healthiest club in Europe.
