Important values which EFDN also promotes within its activities. For this reason EFDN also teams up with the European Week of Sport, which will be held from September 23-30.

The EU Sport Forum is an annual event organised by the European Commission in support of the continuous dialogue with the European and international sport community. It is a central meeting point between sport organisations, representatives of the EU Institutions and Member States exchanging views on the current and future sport policies. This years’ EU Sport Forum theme is ‘European Sport: fair, inclusive and fit for a sustainable future’. Both days will cover current priorities in the field of European sport with an emphasis on:

  • inclusiveness, equality and solidarity as key principles and values of a European sports model
  • the green transition of the sport sector, in particular the promotion of sustainable sports infrastructure
  • good governance in sport with focus on athletes empowerment
  • protection and promotion of well-being notably of young people through sport

The HealthyLifestyle4All Youth Ideas Labs will also be launched during the event, as a contribution to the European Year of Youth 2022 through sport.

#BeActive all year long – not just for The Week

Every year, the European Week of Sport helps to tackle the inactivity crisis by encouraging Europeans to embrace a healthy and active lifestyle.

The European Week of Sport was launched in 2015 to respond to the growing crisis of inactivity. Sport and physical activity makes a significant contribution to the well-being of European citizens. Unfortunately, the level of physical activity is stagnating and even declining in some countries.

The European Week of Sport is designed to give people around Europe and across the world a springboard into being active. The Week exists to improve awareness of the importance an active lifestyle has for everyone.
