Everton Captain Seamus Coleman Supports Faces of Football

As European Football Week kicks off, Ireland and Everton FC Captain Seamus Coleman calls on football fans to sign up to Special Olympics Faces of Football and share their exclusive football card!

Two weeks ago, Special Olympics Europe Eurasia launched its Faces of Football online platform ahead of the virtual European Football Week (EFW) campaign. The platform aims to level the playing field to make the EFW accessible to all players. Special Olympics hopes to ensure that athletes continue to benefit from physical activity, the joy of competition, sense of inclusion, solidarity and community – even in the midst of a global pandemic.

In recent days, Faces of Football has received support from Ireland and Everton Captain Seamus Coleman. In a promotional video published throughout Special Olympics Europe Eurasia’s social media accounts, Coleman encourages football fans across Europe to join the Faces of Football campaign and support athletes with physical and mental disabilities.

Coleman’s support for Faces of Football is not only a testament to his personal values, but to the values of his club, EFDN member and #Morethanfootball participant, Everton FC. Through their official charity, Everton in the Community, the club runs 120 programmes to support their fans, including initiatives to push for the inclusion of athletes with disabilities on the pitch and in the community. It only seems fitting for Coleman to be an ambassador for Faces of Football 2020.
