FCM Players Donate DKK 27,000 to FCM Samfund

The players at the Danish champions donated DKK 1,000 for each goal scored during October, November and December. It turned into 27 goals and thus a nice donation, which was used for FCM Samfund’s Christmas project that included the distribution of Christmas presents to families with limited financial resources. Usually, the FCM players even drove out to some families with the Christmas presents, just as they have done for the past three years. As always, the team has shown great interest and willingness to help FCM Samfund and make a difference for many families and children. FC Midtjylland scored 27 goals in the last quarter of the year. Four goals in the Champions League, 21 in the 3F Superliga and two goals in the cup tournament. Anders Dreyer currently tops the season’s top scorer list with eight goals.

FCM Samfund Christmas Gift Project

Every year in December, FCM Samfund delivers Christmas presents to children and young people from families with limited financial resources. Players, volunteers, board members, staff and business partners provide the gifts, which include training clothes, sports bags, football boots from Nike as well as towels, a ticket to a 3F Superliga match and most importantly, the possibility to join a local football club for free. In collaboration with the DGI, the local club can apply for grants for the contingent so that each child has the opportunity to participate in a local club, meet friends and be part of thw community in the football club. The distribution of Christmas presents aims to help families in a financially stressful situation around Christmas. The goal is to give as many children and young people as possible access to a football club, where they form strong social relationships and communities, make new friends and contribute to a strong local environment.

What it means to the club

Team captain and board member of FCM Samfund, Erik Sviatchenko highlights the joy of giving back: “For a number of years now, we have the tradition of donating DKK 1,000 per goals we score in October, November and December. It means a lot to us to be able to give back in the form of financial support. We hope FCM Samfund can benefit from it and the many people who need a supportive hand”, says Sviatchenko and adds: “This can be a critical time for many families and we are determined to help in any way we can, we hope that many of our fans will also help us. We, in FCM, are a big family and everyone who is part of that family, we must take care of. It means a lot to us.”

Preben Jokkjær, Marketing & Support Director at FC Midtjylland is also pleased with the Christmas gift distribution, which is hugely supported by the central Jutland squad: “We are incredibly honoured that the Superliga players have again chosen to donate to FCM Society. The support of the players and our partners is crucial for us to be able to give Christmas presents to the children”, says Preben Rokkjær and elaborates on the experience by handing out the presents: “It is an absolutely fantastic experience to be able to experience some of the children who receive the gifts light up. Even nicer is it to see them out in the local clubs, where many of them get the opportunity to participate in football and in the local community for the first time.”
