Tournament as great final event of Feyenoord’s Masterclass for Girls

Last Friday, the Feyenoord Foundation’s ‘Girls Masterclass’ programme was concluded with a mini tournament.

Sixteen Feyenoord girls, divided into two teams, played on the very hot day against girl’s teams from Excelsior and Xerxes-DZB.

It was a day, which brought everyone a lot of fun and was filled with excitement.

Manon Melis coaches the team

The programme Feyenoord Masterclass for Girls had started at the Varkenoord training ground four weeks ago. At that point, 70 girls, who earlier already took part in different sports and social Feyenoord Foundation programmes as the Feyenoord Street League, the Feyenoord Neighbourhood training, Lekker Fitter! and ‘with Feyenoord and S.V.GIO uitblinken’ were selected for the Masterclass.

After the first training, sixteen girls were chosen for a three week training programme, which among others was given by the top scorer of the women national team of all times- Manon Melis.

She is already working for a couple of months for Feyenoord.

As proud as the Feyenoord’s first team

The tournament that took place on Friday concluded the great final of the Girls Gasterclass. Despite the high temperature, the girls were showing great performance throughout the three matches and in the end, the tournament was won by one of the two Feyenoord teams.

As a prize, the team won a nice cup and all teams were just as proud as Feyenoord’s first team.
