First Edition U4U Sports Day big success

A diversity of participants provides a unique experience at Sports Complex Zoudenbalch. In cooperation with ROC Sport College, Dutch club FC Utrecht organised the first U4U Sports Day last Tuesday.

The meeting of many target groups resulted in an unforgettable day with many happy participants. A sports day aimed at inclusiveness, where FC Utrecht is proud to have shown what U4U stands for: creating a connection and make sure every candidate feels part of the project.

Student Gert-Jan Blom of ROC Sportcollege, together with Manager Participation of FC Utrecht Robert Junier, opened the event at Sports Complex Zoudenbalch, where over 40 participants from various sections were present. From supporters to the FC Utrecht OldStars, Stichting Philadelphia and Pluryn as well as FC Utrecht personnel, together they enjoyed a unique sports day.

Led by team U4U and its volunteers, the various target groups will take to the field as mixed teams for various sports and game activities, after which they will have lunch together in the stands of Sportcomplex Zoudenbalch.

“We look back on an afternoon in which the connection between our various target groups has never been so strong.” (…) “It was great how this mixed group showed how they could strengthen each other by working together on the basis of equality. That, in combination with the social involvement from various departments of FC Utrecht, made this day a unique experience for the participants.”

Robert Junier, Manager Participation

“I found it to be a very pleasant day.” (…) “A valuable activity where a mix of different FC Utrecht supporters could enjoy a fun day as a group.”

The afternoon will then be devoted to football clinics under the inspired leadership of Ambassador and former player of FC Utrecht Koos van Tamelen and Marlou Peeters (Strategy & Innovation FC Utrecht). To round off the event, a few games were played, after which the participants returned home, tired but satisfied, with a well-stocked goodie bag.
