Five clubs come together for EFDN Youth Exchange in Lisbon

Young people from five EFDN members are currently in Lisbon and take part in the EFDN ‘Breaking barriers through football’ Youth Exchange.

The Youth Exchange provides the 17 to 25 year olds from Aberdeen FC, PFC Ludogorets 1945, NAC Breda, KAS Eupen, and SL Benfica with the unique opportunity to share experiences with each other through engaging in diverse activities. This contributes to fostering the understanding of cultural diversity. An important aspect, especially as multiculturalism among young people are a reality in Europe and its neighbouring countries. In cities and communities, young people with different social and cultural backgrounds live together or next to one another. Culturally diverse communities can provoke challenges in intercultural understanding and inclusion of members of society with different cultural or linguistic backgrounds. The EFDN Youth Exchanges promote intercultural understanding and valuable life skills.

Experiencing team spirit and cultural diversity

The first activities of the EFDN Youth Exchange in Lisbon were mainly energizers and games that aim at creating a good atmosphere and team spirit. The young people and their staff faced several challenges together and had to find solutions as a group. Afterwards, the participants went to the beach and enjoyed the warm water and playing games. In the evening, Aberdeen FC took the stage to inform about the Scottish culture. Together, the group tested traditional Scottish dances and had a lot of fun. We are looking forward to the upcoming days full of sports, workshops and cultural activities.
