Joint training of FC Shakhtar girls team and Special Olympics

Our member Shakhtar Social held a joint training session with their girls team and girls with intellectual disabilities in Kharkiv.

The girls involved in the Special Olympics project prepared a series of football exercises that were both varied and easy-to-perform for all participants in the training session. A lot of work was carried out in pairs which added emotion and vivid impressions to training.

The girls team was founded in Kharkiv in 2018 by FC Shakhtar in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund in Ukraine (UNFPA Ukraine).

Training sessions for girls with intellectual disabilities are carried out by Shakhtar Social jointly with the UNFPA Ukraine and Special Olymipcs Ukraine in four Ukrainian cities: Kyiv, Mariupol, Kharkiv and Ivano-Frankivsk. Four coaches and eight volunteers of the Come On, Let’s Play! project work with the girls based on the adapted training methodology specially developed for Disability Football. They conduct joint training sessions on a regular basis every month in Kharkiv.
