MAINZ 05 KIDS CLUB AND SPECIAL OLYMPICS PARTICIPANTS TRAIN TOGETHER

As part of the European Football Week, which is organised annually in May in cooperation with Special Olympics Europe and UEFA, around 20 athletes from Special Olympics and the 05er KidsClub participated in a very special training session. Jonas Schuster, the pedagogic director of the youth development centre, and Bartosch Gaul, coach of the U16 at the FSV Mainz 05, conducted a 90-minute training session with the kids.

The inclusive training session, which took place on the grounds of the Bruchwegstadion, was attended by children with and without disabilities. In glorious sunshine, the participants completed a small warm-up program before demonstrating their technical skills at various stations.

The two coaches prepared a varying program to give the children a small impression of how a typical lesson of the youth teams from the junior performance centre looks like. In addition to a dribbling course and different pass exercises, the participants especially enjoyed the scoring exercise.

At the end of the session, there was a small tournament of course, in which the teams could compete against each other. “It is important that you keep the fun of this great sport and continue to train with so much joy and motivation.” Jonas Schuster summed up the training session.

The 05er KidsClub would like to thank Special Olympics Rheinland-Pfalz for the visit and Jonas Schuster and Bartosch Gaul for carrying out the joint training session!
