Mainz 05 provides kids with unique handball experience

In cooperation with Mainz University, the Mainz 05 KidsClub organised a workshop on handball. More than 20 participants learned a lot in the two-hour session about what is important to become a handball player, what the difference is to a footballer and how the everyday life of a Bundesliga handball player is structured.

Speakers were Thomas Zeitz, coach of the handball team, Janka Bauer and Carina Gangel, handball players of the 1st Bundesliga team of Mainz 05. First of all, the trio gave the children a little insight into their work and explained the daily, training and match day schedule of their team, which promoted to the 1st Handball Bundesliga. Not only the players but also the coach answered many questions and amazed some kids.

In the end, Zeitz, Bauer and Gangel conducted various exercises with all participants and the workshop was concluded with a short game unit on two small fields. Exhausted but with a satisfied smile on their faces, the participants went back home. The 05er KidsClub thanks Thomas Zeitz, Janka Bauer and Carina Gangel for the exciting discussion and the practical unit as well as the University of Mainz for the cooperation.
