Newcastle United Foundation joins EFDN

EFDN is proud to welcome Newcastle United Foundation as a new member. Since 2008, the independent charity has been using the power of football for social change.

Newcastle United Foundation supports 58,000 people annually across Newcastle, Gateshead, North Tyneside and Northumberland through a wide range of sporting, education and health programmes. The Foundation aims to promote active and healthy lifestyles, particularly in disadvantaged communities, inspire people to learn and reach their potential and help to build safe, strong, active communities. They are using the Newcastle United brand to engage, inspire and motivate. Interventions include sport and physical activity programmes, health and wellbeing initiatives, youth services and education and employability courses.

The excellent work done by the Foundation and its 130 staff was honoured during the 2018/19 season with five awards including Silver for Best Community Programme at the Football Business Awards.

EFDN is looking forward to knowledge exchange and collaboration with Newcastle United Foundation moving forward. Attendees at our 13th EFDN “CSR in European Football” Conference at Camp Nou, Barcelona in November had the opportunity to learn more about the #BeAGameChanger campaign from Sarah Medcalf, Senior Development Manager, Newcastle United Foundation. This campaign aims to encourage NUFC fans, especially men, to be more open about their mental health. The presentation is available on our Online Learning Platform.
