Shakhtar Social opened a new Come On, Let’s Play Playground in Dobrotvir.

30 October 2018

Shakhtar Social opened a new Come On, Let’s Play Playground in Dobrotvir.

The Come On, Let’s Play! project kicked off in Dobrotvir in Lviv Oblast, where 52 children will be training. In total, 1,600 children have already been engaged in the project all over Ukraine. The social project aimed at the development of children’s grassroots football in Ukraine is being implemented by the Shakhtar Social foundation in partnership with DTEK.

New playground

The Come On, Let’s Play! has really developed into a national project. On October 20, training sessions started at the refurbished pitch in the settlement of Dobrotvir, Lviv Oblast. 52 children aged 7 to 12 years old, including 5 girls, started playing football here.

“In June, we signed a memorandum for implementation of the project in the Lviv Oblast, and today we are opening the second ground in the region. It’s important that the young people not only will be able to play football but also to acquire different life skills during training sessions and master classes of the qualified mentors.  Oleksandr Hanuschin, the head of the Lviv regional council said: “I am thankful to you for the development of children’s grassroots football in Ukraine and for the new opportunities for the kids in our region.”

Ordet’ arrival and gifts

Shakhtar defender Ivan Ordets is the main guest of the opening event: “Guys! In my childhood, we used to play football on old pitches, on tall grass, on asphalt or on ordinary ground. I am delighted at the fact that these days, you’ve got some great conditions: you deserve them, and this should be appreciated. Just play and enjoy football. I want to say a big thank you to Shakhtar and DTEK for opening such grounds all over Ukraine, and I hope that there will be more of them in the future.”

Ivan watched the training sessions and friendly games, had some pics taken with the kids, signed autographs and presented the participants with some small gifts from FC Shakhtar.

“Our region boasts great sporting traditions. It’s important for young people to have role models to follow and some great coaches as well. The Come on, Let’s Play! is another step towards that. The project unites the country, it brings real benefits, health and future to the children in our settlement.” pointed out Oleh Taraschuk, the Director of the DTEK Dobrotvirska TPP.

Dobrotvir is the 14th Come On, Let’s Play! location. Earlier this autumn, the project also kicked off in Ivano-Frankivsk, Burshtyn, Chervonohrad and Shchastya.
