Players of Club Brugge coach disabled fans

Club Brugge proved once again that football has a unique power to empower people and foster social inclusion. The first team players Ruud Vormer and Jelle Vossen visited the non-profit organisation Oranje to organise in cooperation with sponsor Ranstad a football match for people with disabilities.

“We are on the way to a unique football competition. Therefore, we are gonna choose a team with talented and passionate guys”, announces Ruud Vormer in the video that was published on the various media channels of Club Brugge.

After that both players drive to Oranje. The non-profit organisation works with persons with a (presumption of) disability and other socially vulnerable target groups, regardless of age or nature of the disability. The aim is to create dialogues and improve the inclusion of people with disabilities into society.

Club is open for everyone

Vormer and Vossen visit one of the studios of Oranje where a gender-mixed group manufactures pieces of furniture and can be creative. After dressing up with new jerseys from the club in an office of sponsor Ranstad, the two selected teams play against each other while a lot of people watch them. The very motivated and happy players from Oranje were coached by Vormer and Vossen. Not only the players of the first team but also Club Brugge’s board and other staff are working towards an club open and accessible to everyone, no matter their heritage, belief or social backgrounds. Every year for example, the Belgian club employs about 20 people with a mental disability.
