Rangers F.C, new club member of the network

EFDN has reached a new agreement with one of the most popular clubs of the U.K, Rangers Football Club.

Rangers Football Club are a football club in Glasgow, Scotland, which plays in the Scottish Premiership, the first tier of the Scottish Professional Football League. Their home ground, Ibrox Stadium, is in the south-west of the city.

Rangers FC have won more league titles and trebles than any other club in the world, winning the league title 54 times, the Scottish Cup 33 times and the Scottish League Cup 27 times, and achieving the treble of all three in the same season seven times. Rangers were the first British club to reach a UEFA tournament final and won the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1972 after being runner-up twice in 1961 and 1967. A third runners-up finish in Europe came in the UEFA Cup in 2008. Rangers have a long-standing rivalry with Celtic, the two Glasgow clubs being collectively known as the Old Firm. Founded in 1872, Rangers were one of the eleven original members of the Scottish Football League and remained in the top division continuously until the liquidation of The Rangers Football Club PLC at the end of the 2011–12 season. With a new corporate identity, the club gained admittance to the fourth tier of Scottish League Football in time for the start of the following season, and were promoted three times in four years to return to the top flight.

What about Rangers FC’s CSR strategy?

The Rangers Charity Foundation exists to bring Club, supporters, staff and players together in a unique way to help make the world of difference to thousands of lives through a range of charitable and community work.  We strive to be champion of charitable giving, and since our creation in 2002 we have donated over £4 million in cash and in-kind support to hundreds of organizations, groups and individuals.

For season 2016/17, the Foundation is working with Charity Partners UNICEF, Breast Cancer Care, Beatson Cancer Charity, The Simon Community and Glasgow City Mission. We also continue to support our long standing partnership with Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity and our Armed Forces Partnership which supports veterans and serving personnel. In addition to our work supporting charity partners, our comprehensive community programmes reach thousands of children and adults with important messages and training regarding health and fitness, employment, equality, diversity and education.

The Foundation organises Dream Days twice a season, where children and adults who have been through an illness or difficult time in their lives come along to meet the team and watch them train as well as receiving a tour of Ibrox Stadium.  We respond to over 2,500 requests for support each year and donate raffle and auction items to people raising funds for causes close to their hearts in communities up and down the country.

The Foundation also aims to assist other charities and charitable causes where possible – particularly those which address our key priority areas which are:

  • The needs of children
  • Education
  • Social inclusion
  • Tolerance and understanding of the beliefs of all sectors of the community
  • Health and well-being

In addition, the Foundation makes the dreams of hundreds of sick, disabled and disadvantaged children come true by arranging for them to meet the players and attend matches and tours at Ibrox stadium.
