RKC Waalwijk looks back at its impact in 2021 and plans for 2022

Samen RKC: impact in De Langstraat

Foundation Samen RKC commits itself daily to a socially strong society in De Langstraat. As project leader, Ellen Maas is the driving force behind the many projects and activities which Samen RKC organises and thus gives substance to the three important pillars of Samen RKC: Health & Movement, Education & Talent Development and Respect & Community.

As project manager, Ellen is busy every day preparing, implementing and evaluating the countless projects of Samen RKC:

“As Samen RKC we fulfil the social role of RKC Waalwijk in the region. Our social relevance is greater than ever. The world is becoming more individualistic; obesity, loneliness and developmental delays are increasing. We also see that poverty and discrimination are unfortunately still current themes. As Samen RKC we want to use sport and exercise to set a change in motion. Sport is a universal language, regardless of background, culture or disability. Sport creates solidarity, influences life skills in a positive way and instils a sense of pride”.

Practice

To put the pillars into practice, Samen RKC’s main goal is to make people more aware of a healthier lifestyle through exercise & nutrition. Stimulating social contact is also an important aspect.

“We are very active at primary schools, with such activities as Scoring for Health and Every1Equal. In addition, we regularly visit nursing homes in the area and organise a bingo or lunch for the elderly. In this way they maintain their social contacts and we prevent loneliness. And of course, our activities where we go out into the neighbourhood and play sports with children, such as the RKC Waalwijk Derby Cup and the Samen RKC SchoolBattle, are also worth mentioning.”

2022

In the near future, Samen RKC is working hard and wants to continue to develop in various areas in the coming year:

“It is our aim to broaden and innovate our projects in time. We also want to become active outside the municipality of Waalwijk. Another important aspect of our development is that we want to measure the impact of our projects and use this data to increase our social impact and grow as an organisation. Growth does not necessarily mean hiring extra people; you can also grow in your effectiveness and working methods.
