On Sunday, Rosenborg will show that football is for everyone

Rosenborg Ballklub and Eliteserien, the Norwegian professional league, want to celebrate the diversity during this weekend’s league game. And Captain Mike Jensen fully supports this idea.

During the match, on Sunday, Rosenborg will celebrate diversity. In addition to the rainbow-colored flag shall Mike Jensen playing with rainbow-colored captain’s armband. Rosenborg and football gives homophobia the red card.

“This is a very nice initiative. We will show that football is inclusive and that it is for everyone. Therefore, this is important to show that gays have a place in football” says Jensen.

No male soccer players at the top level have so far emerged as being gay. But Jensen is sure that it wouldn’t be a problem at Rosenborg.

“I think it would just be fine. It wouldn’t change anything. We’d look at the person and football player in the same way and would embrace them. For this player it would clearly be a courageous choice to make his voice loud, and then it would be important to support that” he said.

Ahead of the match against Sogndal, the speaker is going to read out the following:

Football is for everyone, no matter who you love. We want to welcome different orientations in our dressing room and in our stands. Everyone should be able to take part in the football joy!

Great job, Rosenborg Ballklub!
