Stabæk Fotball has joined EFDN as a new member

EFDN is excited to announce that Stabæk Fotball has joined the network. We are looking forward to collaborating with the Norwegian association football club based in Bærum.

Founded in 1912, the club currently plays in Eliteserien, the Norwegian first division. Stabæk is a club that takes social responsibility towards all ages. In recent years, they have strengthened their effort even further. After all, like most, they think that society is more than 90 minutes of football every weekend. The club works within the local area and tries to address its problems with humanity. Through the combined use of football and curricular activities, Stabæk wants to promote education and social cohesion.

One very important project carried out by Stabæk is their Street Football programme, which occurs two days a week, the whole year-round. It includes tournaments, leagues, and matches. All involved eat together, travel together and learn how to be a part of something larger than themselves. By being in this project over time, participants get the opportunity to work in the club on a matchday as volunteers and be in a position for work within the clubs’ partner companies or in other companies in the area, through their municipality collaboration. Whether participants carry out a short or long period of job training within the club,  Stabæk’s ultimate goal is to move players from the Street Football programme, after being addicts back into work, through taking part in this programme.

Another project the club carries out is ‘MOT’. This is a life skills concept which aims to improve the social environment and basic quality of life of young people, by teaching them vital life and social skills in diverse environments. MOT works both for and together with the youth. Its main objective is to promote the development of strong young individuals within a safe and natural environment.

Ultimately, Stabæk Fotball would like to learn from EFDN and other clubs but also help provide and share their experiences. They are looking for new projects and opportunities too. So, by attending conferences and meetings the club want to learn from new areas and see how they can improve and increase their knowledge in all matters.

We are looking forward to meeting the club representatives and to exchange knowledge at the upcoming 14th EFDN “Morethanfootball” Conference in Breda on the 24th & 25th of March.
