Strømsgodset IF is becoming a member of the European Football for Development Network.

EFDN is glad to announce that the Norwegian club Strømsgodset IF has joined the European Football for Development Network.

Strømsgodset IF is a Norwegian sports club from Gulskogen in Drammen, Norway. The club has sections for association football, handball and bandy. However, Strømsgodset IF is best known for the top-level football section, which plays in Tippeligaen, the Norwegian top flight.

Founded in 1907, the football club had its first success in the late 1960s and the early 1970 by winning one league title and three cups. The team that led to the desired results is known as the “Rødgata Boys”. Later, Strømsgodset IF achieved further notable success by winning four national Norwegian Championships.

Next to playing in the Norwegian top flight, Strømsgodset shows nameable achievements in the field of Community and Social Responsibility engagement. The professional football club is aware of the meaningful role it plays in society and sees it as highly relevant to act as a good role model.

Strømsgodset IF’s CSR strategy

Currently, Strømsgodset IF focuses their community efforts on three particular programmes.

Gatelaget” is a community programme targeted to people with an addiction. The participants of the initiative get the opportunity to take part in football matches and meet three times a week to train together. The programme aims at creating an environment in which the participants feel secure, where they acquire self-control skills and where they develop a feeling of belonging.

The second social programme is delivered in partnership with the voluntary organisation Redd Barna. Together, they follow the objective of tackling bullying and creating a safe environment for children. To achieve these desired goals, Strømsgodset IF and Redd Barna visit divers local clubs and schools.

Blåtimen” is the third community programme of the club and focuses on the power of Strømsgodset IF to act as a role model. The Norwegian club is aware of the strength and responsibility, which Strømsgodset IF holds. Therefore, A-team players and coaches of the club visit schools, kindergartens, associations and clubs on a regular basis. The programme “Blåtimen” aims at inspiring people by creating unique encounters with role models. Strømsgodset IF’s programme “Blåtimen” is far-reaching. Each year, together with the A-team players, more than 150 visits are paid and thereby social problems addressed.

EFDN is looking forward to a successful cooperation with Strømsgodset IF and is proud to welcome the Norwegian club in the European Football for Development Network.
