Child dreams coming true with the help of VfL Wolfsburg
Also this year again, VfL Wolfsburg is supporting socially disadvantaged children in the weeks before Christmas. In the framework of the “Moving together” campaign the club is working in collaboration with the city of Wolfsburg and the food bank in Wolfsburg to fulfil Christmas wishes of children.
VfL- managing director Dr. Tim Schumacher states: “We are looking forward to the joint initiative and are proud that it already exists since 2012. With this years initiative, we will again be able to bring happiness to children that are social disadvantaged.”
“Important and self-evident”
On 3rd of December, the initiative was kicked-off by Dr. Tim Schumacher, Wolfsburg’s mayor Klaus Mohrs and representative of Wolfsburg’s Family-Alliance Kathrin Mohrs. All involved parties stressed the importance of the initiative and major Klaus Mohr further explained:
“In particular around Christmas, presents are often in the focus. However, not everyone has the financial means to buy a present for their children. I believe this project and its aims are a great idea.”
Christmas trees all around the city
Since the kick-off event, six Christmas trees have been set up in different parts of Wolfsburg. Especially the VfL Wolfsburg facilities have been involved. On the six trees, 200 wishes of that are written on a piece of paper have been hang-up on the trees.
How does it work
Until the 18th of December everyone who would like to participate in the activity can pick one of the cards from the Christmas trees and buy the Christmas present that is mentioned on the card.
After the present has been bought and wrapped, the Christmas wish card needs to be attached to the present.
All presents will be collected at the entrance of the VfL Arena. After 18th of December, the presents will be given to the children at the food bank.
