Werder Bremen ranks first in list of CSR work in the Bundesliga

At the board meeting in November, Werder’s president and director Dr. Hubertus Hess-Grunewald stressed “Our Social and Community work is brand shaping.”

TBleib am Ball 3his statement was now supported by an academic research, which showed that SV Werder Bremen ranks first in the list of CSR work in the Bundesliga.

The research, conducted by the University of Heilbronn paid attention to the CSR work delivered by the Bundesliga clubs in the season 2015/16. The study results show that SV Werder Bremen has performed very well and therefore ranks on top of the list. In the research, criteria as quantity, duration and impact of programmes have been considered to determine the ranking.

Also Klaus Filbry, chair of the board agrees that “Social responsibility at SV Werder Bremen is very important, in a sustainable way. In its form, it is unique in the Bundesliga”.

The research shows that the engagement and dedicated work of the WERDER BEWEGT employees is paying off.

In 2012, SV Werder Bremen founded the CSR-brand WERDER BEWEGT – lebenslang (Werder mobilises a lifelong) to strengthen Bleib am Ball 1and professionalise the social competences of the club. The brand consists of six different areas with a great variety of topics. WERDER BEWEGT organises and supports projects for all people, no matter what age or social status. Aspects like environmentalism, dedication towards discrimination, healthy diet, movement and education are main topics of the projects. Every project is supported by one or two public characters, who are popular because of their operations in the areas of sport, economy, politics, music and television.
