Willem II launches a new healthy food curriculum

Together with Rabobank, Willem II launches the Rabo Willem II Foodtour, a nine-part interactive curriculum on healthy food and balanced nutrition.

From next season on schoolchildren in North Brabant will have the chance to dive into subjects such as healthy food, sports nutrition, and reading labels. All of this thanks to the Rabo Willem II Foodtour, the interactive curriculum that Willem II launched in collaboration with the sponsor Rabobank.

The tour, which is divided into nine parts, will touch on subjects such as food waste, local produce, sports nutrition, reading labels, and much more. During each lesson, the two hosts, Bregje Swinkels and Leo Alkemade, will talk with experts, agricultural companies, and to Willem II’s players.

Its not only about learning but also about fun. At the end of each class, the pupils will be asked to make a vlog and the three best vloggers will win a spot for the Food Clinic Day at the King Willem II Stadium, which consists of an educational day about nutrition and sports.

Moreover, schools can enroll their classes to take part in the guest lessons programme, which, thanks to the involvement of companies, farmers, restaurants, the municipality, and other educational institutions, will allow pupils to participate in various food activities.

“For Willem II Betrokken, the theme’ healthy lifestyle ‘is very important. Willem II and Rabobank connected through this theme. Together they form the basis of the curriculum. In this way, the club is also making a positive contribution to society.” said Suzanne Albregts, coordinator of Willem II Betrokken.

Willem II, together with all the other 33 Dutch Clubs, is currently taking part in #MeerDanVoetbal (More than Football) week. The entire Eredivisie is participating in an awareness and fundraising campaign.

“Football clubs play an important role in society in recent months. The lack of being together in the stadium is great and many clubs and supporters have been creative in keeping in touch with each other. We have also done this with, among others, Willem II Betrokken (Foundation). The MeerDanVoetbal week is a great initiative towards football supporters that will hopefully make a nice contribution to social projects.” said Martin van Geel from Willem II.
