Coaches for social change

The ‘Coaches for social change’ program reaches out to young Israeli citizens that like to serve and lead in their community as part of their civil service. The 5-year program provides beneficiaries a platform to play an influential role in their community. As sports coaches and coordinators in local schools, they inspire the next generation in adopting valuable norms and values.

The direct beneficiaries of the program gain valuable professional experience: Mifalot trains and guides them in becoming professional sports coaches, which they immediately put to practice at their local schools. Consequently, each individual coach for social change inspires around 200 indirect beneficiaries of this program through promoting and teaching essential life skills – such as tolerance and non-violent behavior, encouragement of physical exercise, etc.

To facilitate our direct beneficiaries’ professional career pursuit, we cooperate with academic institutes to enroll them in B.A. programs in physical education (for instance at Tel Aviv University and the Wingate institute).

In a nutshell:
  • Leadership program facilitative to community/civil service, ages: 18-22 (for men & women). The program is officially and nationally recognized as a meaningful civil/community service.
  • Provide professional career opportunities.
Main learning goals include:
  • Develop employment, social and leadership skills (such as role modeling).
  • Stimulate sense of belongingness to the community and their role therein.
