Future secured for youth at risk

The ‘Future secured for youth at risk’ program uses the universal passion for soccer to strengthen the employability of adolescents at risk. Throughout a 2-year program (including 240 hours of training), beneficiaries learn essential skills necessary for competing on the job market, such as perseverance, presenting oneself, team work, decision-making and leadership. They do so by taking various roles, such as learning to be the assistant coach, referee, or organizing events and tournaments.

Upon completing the course, the students are qualified to coach professional football teams of students up to 16 years of age. After the first 6 months of training, beneficiaries volunteer in their own community to train children there (16 years and younger).

In addition to the professional training, the beneficiaries are acquainted with jobs outside the world of soccer. Most beneficiaries enrolled find jobs outside of the soccer field; some continue as professional soccer coaches. The highly dedicated ones are granted a scholarship to enroll in the instructor’s course or a referee’s course. These courses are accredited by the Israel Football Association. To keep track of our graduates, we’ve set up a graduate program.

In a nutshell:
  • Focus on youth at risk, aged 16-18.
  • Provide professional career opportunities.
Main learning goals include:
  • Create a sense of self-efficacy.
  • Develop employment, social and leadership skills (such as role modeling).
  • Stimulate sense of belongingness to the community and their role therein.
