Sheffield United Community Foundation – Sports Participation

The aim of the strand is to engage, motivate and inspire all individuals to encourage a life-long participation in physical activity and sport. Sheffield aim to provide young people with a solid, enjoyable start to sport and physical activity in order to develop “physical literacy” and engender a lifelong participation through the development of a generic set of fundamental movement and basic skills transferable to sport. Their ambition is to ensure that participation continues to be a part of daily life, so that young people continue to be active beyond the statutory education age. however, increasing participation amongst young people during their school days by itself, is not enough and the foundation seek initiatives to enhance sport opportunities both inside and outside of school hours.
