Gatelaget – Improving the life quality of people with an addiction

Gatelaget” is a community programme targeted to people with an addiction. It is delivered in collaboration with the centre for drug prevention and the Church City Mission in Drammen. The initiative follows the objective of providing the programme participants with an improved quality of life. This improvement shall be achieved through the engagement in physical activity. Therefore, the participants of the initiative take part in weekly training sessions and organised football matches, which are part of the Street League, launched by Strømsgodset IF.

Additionally, the programme aims at creating an environment in which the participants feel secure, where they acquire self-control skills and where they develop a feeling of belonging. Besides providing an opportunity to participate in physical activity and creating a secure environment the group acquires knowledge about the values and culture of Strømsgodset IF.

It is being emphasised that values as respect, loyalty and equal treatment are not only applicable to football but also in daily life situations.
