Youth Exchange NEC-Nijmegen in full swing

The Youth Echange, organised bij N.E.C. Nijmegen yesterday experienced its third day. The participants from the UK arrived on Saturday and the day after went to see the Eredivisie game N.E.C. Nijmegen – Vitesse live in the Goffert Stadium. Yesterday everyboduy got together at the Goffert Stadium for the official opening of the Exchange. After a brief introduction of Joep Goessens and EFDN, the youth of Everton, Tottenham, Aberdeen and N.E.C. Nijmegen started with some group energize games. After this warming-up, it was time for Aberdeen to introduce their city and let the other youngster ask questions about the specifics of the city of Aberdeen.
Once the youth members got introduced with a small movie from Tottenham about their community work, it was time for two students of the Hogeschool Rotterdam to introduce their project called ‘Community Champions Tournament’, which is to be held on Thursday. Each team had to think about different rules that will be implemented in the tournament. A special feature of the tournament is, that it’s not only about who scores the most and who gets the most points, but the teams can gain points also with fairplay and social behavior. At the end of the tournament the team that has collected the most points wins the tournament.
After lunch the youth members got an introduction on walking football. They got acquainted with the rules and did some exercises before they got randomly divided into 4 teams to play against each other. After that it was time for some community work. After a 20 minutes walk, the youth members arrived in the neighbourhood ‘Hatert’ where they collected garbage.
Having done that, leaving the neighbourhood all tidy, the youngsters got to play some free football and spontaneously organised a small tournament together with all the staff members.

It was a beautiful day.
