Fulham Work Hub

Fulham Football Club Foundation deliver a number of employability and training programmes to engage young people and vulnerable adults with complex needs, in order to increase participants’ readiness to enter, or begin thinking about entering into employment, support participants in developing confidence and self-esteem, and empower participants to build aspirations and set goals.

They use innovative approaches to engage those with intricate needs and vulnerabilities, often compounded by unemployment for 12 months or more. They on the hardest to reach groups: people who struggle to reengage with work. Self-esteem and confidence issues are common; but so too are criminal records, entrenched unemployment (for years at a time), and mental health issues.

In 2015, they helped 125 unemployed people complete the programme, with 100% of participants reporting increased self-esteem and confidence. In November 2015, FFCF hosted the EFL Trust (then the Football League Trust), Employment Minister Priti Patel, and other professional football clubs in London for an employability conference at the request of the EFL Trust, in order to share outcomes and best practice.

FFCF’s employability programmes range from traineeships and apprenticeships, to cohorts tailored to lone parents, over 50s, young offenders, and individuals with mental health needs.
