Belgian Homeless Cup is now called Younited Belgium

The Belgian Homeless Cup is now 11 years old. The organisation decided to celebrate this birthday with a change of name. The Belgian Homeless Cup is now called Younited Belgium. The Pro League continues to support its social partner. To put the name change in the spotlight, the Jupiler Pro League is renamed the Younited Pro League during Christmas football.

The Belgian Homeless Cup was founded 11 years ago with one team in Antwerp. In the meantime, the organisation spread throughout Belgium. While celebrating the anniversary, Belgian Homeless Cup decided to thoroughly review its name and logo. The old name clearly indicated the theme, but could be experienced as stigmatising. That is the reason why there is the new name: Younited Belgium. The participants in Younited Belgium are fighting against vulnerability in areas such as housing, mental health, well-being, poverty and addiction. Younited Belgium chooses to highlight the power that people have, instead of appointing them with the problems they have to face.

In total 28 teams, form a collaboration between a football club and social organizations such as street work, walk-in or meeting places, neighborhood sports, crisis and reception centers. Younited Belgium is the social partner of the Pro League. “The way the Younited teams use the ball to help their participants advance, summarises the essence of the social value of our sport for us. Younited Belgium is not only a partner of the Pro League and the clubs, together with all players and they are real ambassadors of the power of football, “said Stijn Van Bever, Press Officer at Pro League.

“To emphasise our relationship with Younited Belgium and to give the name change an extra boost, the Jupiler Pro League will be renamed Younited Pro League during Christmas (26-27 December). As in previous years, all Jupiler Pro League teams will play with the Younited Belgium logo on the chest. These shirts will be auctioned and the entire proceeds of this auction will go to Younited Belgium. ”
