Celebrating the International Down Syndrome Day

Today, 21st of March, EFDN also celebrates the International Down Syndrome Day. This day was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome. Every year on March 21, World Down Syndrome Day is observed to create awareness about Down syndrome.

Many of our members celebrated with us, sharing their initiatives related to the topic.

EFDN is also socially involved on the topic with the Special Champions League. Through football, EFDN want to get more young people with intellectual disabilities physically and socially active in their communities and increase integration and inclusion within society. The EFDN Special Champions League has been shaped in line with the Special Olympics philosophy, and it will provide opportunities for participants to improve their physical health, increase their confidence, meet new people, learn about others, and establish social bonds. The Special Champions League is co-funded by Erasmus+.

The Special Champions League recently had a meeting in Valencia and wil have its next tournament on the 28th-30th of May in Breda.
