EFDN joins online EU seminar to prepare European Week of Sport

The EFDN participated at the Key Players Seminar organised by the European Commission for Sport in order to prepare the European Week of Sport 2021, to be held from September 23-30. More than 100 participants from 41 countries joined the online event.

The main goal of this week is to encourage the citizens of Europe, regardless of age, social background, or fitness level, to #BeActive, which is the official slogan of the campaign! The week helps millions of people across the world to build better, healthier lifestyles and boost their physical and mental health and support social inclusion with accessible activities for all ages.

Sport brings joy to people and unites people. Sport is ready to contribute to building a more human-centered society. It’s important to show that sport is for everyone, regardless of age. EFDN hopes to contribute to this week by creating a higher awareness amongst clubs, leagues FAs, football fans, and project participants regarding the importance of physical activity and a healthy lifestyle.

EFDN will contribute to the European Week of Sport by delivering sport activities across Europe together with their members. We will use the social power of football and their brands to encourage people to get involved in health programmes and to embrace a healthy and active lifestyle.

Our network members will deliver Scoring for Health school sessions to promote the importance of healthy eating and sufficient physical activity among children.  Clubs which will compete in the EFDN Walking Football League will host training sessions for people over the age of 50 as well as provide opportunities to increase the social inclusion levels of participants.  Boys and girls from across Europe will engage in street football competitions across Europe to gain points for the Community Champions League. Every day, EFDN will highlight best practice Health programmes in European football on the EFDN communication channels.

It’s time to #BeActive!
