EFDN welcomes Fundación Levante UD to the network!

EFDN is happy to announce that Spanish side Levante UD has joined the Network. They are the 8th Spanish organisation to be part of EFDN. The main objective of the Levante UD Foundation is to manage and represent the social and solidarity content of Levante UD in society.

Thus, all existing content and social projects have been created, managed, monitored, evaluated and evolved directly by the Levante UD Foundation, which works independently but jointly with Levante UD. The main population where the efforts of the Levante UD Foundation have been focused for 10 years are people with disabilities. For this reason, the Foundation currently has 4 consolidated and pioneering sports projects in Spain for people with disabilities, such as Levante UD EDI, Levante UD PC, Levante UD Masclets and Levante UD Table Tennis.

In addition, they not only focus their work on people with disabilities but also try to raise awareness in schools about the importance of including people with functional diversity, giving motivational talks for 10 years with elite Paralympic athletes and multi-medalists. In this way, the Levante UD Foundation is today a benchmark and example for other foundations in the field of disability and sport.

For Levante UD Foundation being an EFDN member is a huge opportunity to try to bring their projects and impact also out of Spain, having new contacts and alliances with European Football Club’s Foundations with the same interests and motivations.

They are pioneers and leaders at the inclusion of people with disabilities through sport, doing it since 2012 and creating their own scouting and training methodology that was used for some other Spanish foundations to build their own sport-inclusive projects.

LEVANTE UD EDI

Biggest football school for people with intellectual disabilities in Spain. This school was created 10 years ago, being the first football school for these special sport players inside a Football Club’s foundation in Spain and probably also in the world.

With 167 players with ages between 5 and 60 years old and 8 different workgroups, this school works as similar as possible to the first team of Levante UD. Football coaches, physiotherapists, doctors, psychologists, nutritionists work day by day only for this school bringing a level of professionalism around them never seen before.

This school has also recently suffered a big evolution, two new sections have been created inside it: initiation, for Childs between 5 and 14 years old; and the women section, exclusively for girls. These two sections are also pioneers at Spain’s football Foundations.

DI_CAPACIDAD SPEECHES

Motivational speeches at schools done by Paralympic and Valencian multi-medalist athletes. These speeches are being done at valencian schools since 10 years ago. More than 20.000 kids have been in contact with these projects that teach them how to deal with a person with any kind of disability and acting as a motivational agent on a short and medium term. This is the way that Levante UD Foundation tries to change the future.

This project also gives the possibility to the schools to come to visit the stadium, know Levante UD Mascots or even participate in a tournament celebrated every year in summer at Levante UD Stadium and called “Todos Jugamos, Todos Ganamos”.
