EFDN welcomes Stenhousemuir FC to the Network!

Warriors in the Community is the charity arm of Stenhousemuir Football Club. The club was formed in 1884. The nickname ‘The Warriors’, has been used for at least 125 years during which there have been highs and lows, but there has always been a club. Stenhousemuir FC currently acts in the Scottish League Two.

They wish to join the Network to share thoughts with like-minded people, who believe football can be used to impact positive social change. The Charity wants to be better and learn from others, while also helping anyone with learnings from its own journey by sharing best practices and challenges from their work.

The goal is to re-energise the community by putting people at the centre of everything that they do and make forward progress towards positive community health, community help, and community wealth outcomes.

Community Help Initiative

Born out of necessity during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Community Help Initiative supports the most vulnerable in the community to the present day. The current support is mainly volunteer-led in three areas: befriending service, weekly errands, and dog-walking service. Every Christmas, they bring together the people we support through the Community Help Initiative for a festive meal or hamper delivery.

Mental Health Football

In partnership with NHS Forth Valley, the Charity runs weekly football activities for people in the local community with acute mental health issues. Participants are referred by local doctors and NHS staff to gain the benefits of regular physical activity and social connection.

Hubert Rovers, CEO of EFDN: “I’m happy to welcome Stenhousemuir FC and its foundation Warriors in the Community to the Network. They are the 16th Scottish organisation to join EFDN which shows the immense role football clubs in Scotland fulfil within their communities. No matter how big or small, we can all learn from each other and I’m sure that Stenhousemuir FC will contribute in a great way by sharing their own journeys.”
