EitC Prepare for World Mental Health Day 5k Run

On the occasion of World Mental Health Day on October 10, Everton in the Community is organising a 5K sprint in the ‘If You Know Your History’ event as part of the Merseyside club’s ‘The People’s Place’ campaign.

The run will raise funds for the development of a dedicated mental healthcare facility serving the rare of L4, which surrounds Goodison Park and the ward which falls into the most deprived 5% of neighbourhoods in England.

Supporters and fans can sign up to run along the community’s disability programme staff and volunteers that starts at Liverpool’s Prince Rupert Tower and finishes at Goodison Park.

“The runners are from a number of our disability teams – we have members from our female teams, our pan disability teams, amputee and Down’s syndrome team, so there’s a lot of different representation which is great.

“It’s not a race – and some of us will walk it. There’s no pressure to get a record time, it’s just about completing it and doing something to raise money for Everton in the Community.”

Steven Johnson, EitC’s Disability manager
