FC Barcelona makes Christmas dream of Nujeen come true
Nujeen, who was born in the countryside of Aleppo had to flee her country due to war – losing a part of her life.
Now living in Germany, Nujeen had one dream, meeting the first team of FC Barcelona and watching a game at Camp Nou.
After hearing about Nujeen’s dream and her story, FC Barcelona, the first team players and the club’s Foundation worked towards making her dream come true. They organised a very special journey.
Manuel, the Football Club’s first team driver became part of what turned into an unforgettable experience for Nujeen and himself.
Being involved in this mission Manual says “there’s one thing clear, we will bring this girl to Barcelona and she is gonna make us all happy. I don’t think I’ ll ever do any trip more blissful and shocking than this one. “
As a surprise, he picked Nujeen up in Germany with the FC Barcelona first team bus to drive all the way to meet the players at Camp Nou and to watch a game at the stadium.
We are more than refugees, we are people
Nujeen, who had earlier written a book about her story of leaving Syria received a lot of support from FC Barcelona when arriving in Spain and the opportunity to tell a story that was very close to her heart. She wanted to share that she and everyone else who had to flee their country was also a person and not only a refugee as it was often displayed on television.
Watching the game and being a part of the FC Barcelona family she states “Football is also another example of hard work giving birth to qualities what million of people stand for and like. It is the example of the fruitation of the hard work.”
After meeting Nujeen, the players stated “It is an incredible story of overcoming that’s why the team invited Nujeen to the stadium. All players knew about her and we wanted to invite her to come to Barcelona and enjoy a game with us in the Camp Nou.”
At the end of her journey Nujeen thanked her driver Manual telling him that this was the trip of her life. For Manual, it has also been the journey of his life.
