Schalke Hilft! Children serve hot meals to those in need

In their free time, Finn, Kenan, Fabrice and Louis regularly play football on the Schalke hilft! – sponsored by the RAG Foundation. In July, the four of them got involved off the pitch and actively helped serve meals at the Regenbogenhaus in Gelsenkirchen.

For one day, the young participants of the football field project left their football boots in the cupboard and in return supported the homeless aid in Gelsenkirchen. While otherwise employees of the club and the Schalke fan project serve a meal at the monthly food distribution in the Regenbogenhaus, in July the four of them stepped in after they had volunteered for the action in advance.

The idea of coordinating the food distribution for the first time with the help of young Schalkers under the direction of Hendrik Jochheim from the Schalker Fanprojekt proved to be very successful. With a lot of commitment and dedication, Finn, Kenan, Fabrice and Louis not only did good, but also learned that day that a hot meal is not a matter of course for everyone. The commitment of the football field kickers caused particular enthusiasm among the local people. A welcome change with potential for repetition – Louis himself also thought:

“It was a mega good feeling to make people happy with the food.”

The S04 actively supports the homeless and homeless assistance in Gelsenkirchen with its own club foundation. In addition to warm clothing and monetary support for the homeless, there is the offer of a monthly food distribution. The Regenbogenhaus provides those in need with a warm meal every 365 days of the year.
